Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of an athletic scholarship to his family with service to the community. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They raised him on the farm they owned in Eufala. The Selmons were also among the three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. They were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the nation's top lineman. Oklahoma had two National Championships during the three years he was a starting linebacker. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Fourth year of college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. In Tampa He played with the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. In 1988 he took on the role of account representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that Lee Roy was named one of the top 10 young men across the United States according to the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds at the time his college football career began. The year 1975 was the first time he was a leader of the team. He was promoted to the associate director of athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. In 1988 He was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Senior. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
